It took only five years, from 1959 to 1964, to build the neo-classical style House of Culture, named after Emanouil Manolov. The architect was Carl Kandulkov and the sculptural design was made by Prof. Iliya Iliev. Highlights from the town’s history are artistically interpreted in the bas-reliefs and monumental murals in the interior. The doors, windows and internal staircases are decorated with cast iron rosettes; the lounges are tiled with marble of different colours with brass chandeliers.
This real castle is one of the landmarks of Gabrovo and is a centre of arts and culture. Opera, symphonic, ballet, musical and dance performances are performed on this stage. Gabrovo drama theatre, as well as the chamber orchestra and brass and Dixieland orchestra create there. Hundreds of children and young people have found their place in the children’s folklore ensemble, children’s music school, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and schools for learning foreign languages, dance schools, rock groups, eastern martial arts clubs and many more. The House of Culture is located on an area of 5400 sq.m. And has 63 rooms for training and rehearsals, rehearsal and concert activities, seminars and conferences, exhibitions and creative meetings, chamber concerts, performances, etc.
