Panevezys is the greenest city in Lithuania, located between two Baltic capital cities- Vilnius and Riga, along the two banks of the Nevezis River.
More than 119 000 inhabitants live in Panevezys. In 2003 the town commemorated its 500th anniversary from the time it was founded in 1503 by the Grand Duke of Lithuania and the Polish King Alexander.
